Default Money for Name?

I just had a weird experience in game, someone offered me 2k for my character name. I guess he was building a new character and wanted to use same name as my lvl20 Ranger, but this is my main character and no money would allow me to delete it. Has anyone else had money offered for their character name? I am wondering if this will become a lucrative business now since as the game grows more of the popular names will be taken.
Grabbing up unique names could be the new cash pot

Never happened to me, but now I'm curious, what's your character's name?

You're name is assigned to your account - not transferrable. I made a character way back in May, deleted him a few days later ( didn't like the profession), and to this day that name still is on my account, but no character of that name.

As far as I know, the names are only reserved for some hours after you deleted the Char, after that, everyone can take them. Perhaps nobody wanted the name.

There are multiple names that I would pay up to 10k for (I won't say them though). However, none of the people (there are around 7 I think) have logged in anytime in the past 4 months or so (they're on my friends list).

I believe that you can never "delete" the name of your first character - it's what your account is known as going forward, even with any subsequent characters that are created.

I think every name that you create after that is "deletable" and usable by other players shortly after you delete it.

Yes, names are only resevered for a little while. There is a name I used to use for most of my PvP necromancers that I can't use anymore because I hadn't used it recently and someone stole it.

Long time ago I created my prot monk and decided her name to be Luna. That's a common name, I know... and since her first name means moon, I thought about taking some moon-based word as a surname too. Everything I deemed worthy seemed to be taken already and I had to pick up the one she has now (and I have grown to like her name a lot ).

Then, just few days after the creation, I was waiting for my guildee at Ascalon (in post-searing) and there, right in front of me, appeared the character with the name I had chosen for her in the 1st place. I had to use all my willpower not to tell her to delete that character and let me take that name

And since the early stages of character creation (I used to do a lot of deleting and redoing), I have learnt that it's a lot easier to find out one good Surname and use that with all my chars, than trying to invent loads of cool new names which most often are already taken.

My character name is Hosteen Storm from Beast Master Novel (not the movie which completely detered from the books) anyway i planned to create a Beast Master type ranger, but completely went off course half way thru the game (way back no one wanted you to bring your pet). So kinda not as fitting a name as it used to be. I even named my panther Surra after the Cat in the book.

I know that guy. He'll probably sell to you, but only for 100k and 25 ectos. Want me to setup a meeting? And the guy above me is right, its A Glob Of Ectoplasm.

I snagged Black Ajah from Wheel of Time, which is a popular book series in GW it seems. People don't seem to like me having it. Oh well Ignore list for them.

I've seen a few variations of one of my pvp names, so now I have to keep a character with that name at all times, even if I'm need the slot for a character that I usually call something else. I wish you could reserve one or two names even if you're not using them, however I'm sure that the system would be abused were that to be implemented.

I used to use a common surname for identification purposes, but then I decided to start using phrases for pvp character names. Since I only keep one pve char these days, the surname has grown pretty pointless.
